A couple of years back I informed my readers that a Jakhmola family from Mitragram migrated to Mitragram (Matargaon) as Gharjavain. Gharjavain means the father in law donating his land to his daughter and son in law in his native place and his son in law and daughter settling there. There were questions from certain sections for my saying that a Jakhmola family from Mitragram settled in Jaspur as Gharjavain.
Before, Gurkha rule, Kukretis were staying in Jaspur and Gweel village (Malla Dhangu, Pauri Garhwal) was not established yet as separate village. Mitragram (Malla Dhangu) was part of Gatkot and was not a village yet.
This author wrote as per information from his grandmother Shrimati Kwanra Devi wife of Shri Shish Ram Kukreti (my father’s elder uncle). Shri Virendra Jakhmola told me stories for Jakhmolas settling in Jaspur.
One of resident Netru Ji from Mitragram was married a Kukreti girl of Jaspur. The Kukreti girl was botherless. Her father or Netru Ji’s father in law offered Netru Ji to settle in Jaspur as Gharjavain. Netru Jakhmola settled in Jaspur with his brother Dulla Jakhmola around 1800. Virendra Jakhmola and me calculated as per date of birth of late Narayan Datt Jakhmola around 1880-1885. Late Narayan Datt Jakhmola was sixth generation in the family tree of Netru Jakhmola.
After Netru Jakhmola and his younger brother Dulla in Jaspur, there had been disputes between newly arrived Jakhmola family and Kukreti families (kin of father in law of Netru Jakhmola). The kin of Father in law of Netru never accepted Netru Jakhmola and Dulla Jakhmola. This dispute remained for many generations. Descendants of Netru and Dulla were staying I the house (presently Jagdish Prasad Kukreti and brothers the son of late Radhakrishna Kukreti. Kukreti families (descendants of Kukreti family related to Netru’s father in law) forced Jakhmola family to vacate that house and settled elsewhere. Jakhmola family settled below that house (now, Jakhmola line of houses).
Till that time, there was no paper work completed from Jakhmola family side for ownership of their occupied land in Jaspur with government. When Kukreti family forced Jakhmola family for vacating old house, Jakhmola family completed the paper work of their occupied land with Patwari and Padahn.
