Makar Sankranti is celebrated as Ghughutiya or Utrainee or Pusudiya or Makraen (рдШреБрдШреБрддрд┐рдпрд╛ / рдЙрддрд░реИрдгреА / рдкреБрд╕реВрдбрд╝реАрдпрд╛ / рдордХрд░реИрдг) is celebrated in Uttarakhand. Food items of the shape of bird called Ghughut are prepared. The preparation is made with wheat flour kneaded into dough with jaggery and sugarcane juice. These are deep fried in oil or ghee and prepared on the eve of the actual festival day along with shapes of pomegranate, orange, drum, shield, sword etc. All these shapes are woven into a garland with thread. On the day of the festival kids wear these garlands early morning and go out of there homes inviting crows to eat singing.
