Rakshabandhan (रक्षाबंधन) or Rakhi (राखी) or Rakhdi (रखड़ी) is a festival of celebration of the brother sister bond. The celebration involves tying of the sacred thread called Rakhi by a sister on her brothers wrist with which she also prays for the well being, long life and success of her brother. The festival is celebrated on the full moon day of Sharavan month of Hindu Calendar. Tying of Rakhi is followed by gift from the brother to his sister along with the vow to protect his sister against all odds.
